Most people visiting Dubai will be staying in one of the many hotels including over 40 five star luxury hotels and resorts. Prices are comparable with Europe but generally of better quality and range from budget hotels charging less than Dhs. 500 (£70) per night to luxury hotels charging over Dhs. 1,500 (£200) per night. As an alternative you could consider a villa or self catering apartment which typically charge around Dhs. 3,500 (£500) per week. Dubai offers plenty of choices, from the 'old town' Bur Dubai and Deira districts, to luxury beach hotels along Jumeirah Beach and the new Palm Islands, the business orientated skyscrapers of Sheik Zahed Road, tranquil desert resorts and the mountain retreat at Hatta. When budgeting, remember to take account of the 10% sales tax and 10% service charge. Check any prices you are quoted as some offers will not include these additional charges. Most of the luxury hotels cater for both business and leisure travellers and are furnished to a very high standard with air conditioning, a mini-bar, satellite television and high speed internet access. Despite the enormous building program currently being undertaken in Dubai, demand is still out-stripping supply. Competition keeps the prices down except during peak times and special events like the Dubai World Cup; the world's richest horse race meeting. You will often find good bargains during Ramadan and high summer between June and August when very high temperatures and humidity deter many visitors.

You may well get a better rate, particularly during the very hot Summer months when hotels will often offer special deals.
